About Filton LRC

Filton LRC

Filton LRC is located at the Filton Campus of South Gloucestershire and Stroud College. We have three separate study areas: The Group Study Area, where students can work in groups; the Quiet Study Area, where students can work quietly; and the Silent Area, where students who want absolute silence (yes, NO TALKING!) can work without distraction, and which can only be used after booking a computer with the staff at the Front Desk.
We have extensive computer facilities in the LRC, with 16 PCs in the Group Study Area (plus 2 Express PCs if you just need to, e.g., print and dash!), 58 PCs in the Quiet Study Area, including 3 Accessibility PCs, and 8 PCs in the Silent Area. We also have 2 printers, one black and white, and one colour, which print and photocopy. We additionally have 2 scanners available for use.

And, of course, no library would be complete without books! We have a wide selection of books, both academic and recreational, that college students and staff can borrow for set periods of time. We also are subscribed to a large number of journals and magazines. Plus, we also hold a good library of DVDs, including films and television series. Our collection is always growing, so you notice any glaring omissions (or you *really* want to watch the next season of Mad Men), let a member of staff know, we’ll make a note of it on our system, and, if the suggestion is approved, it might just end up gracing our shelves (This applies to all sites: ask at any LRC front desk about books, dvd’s or journals you’d like to see, and the LRC Advisors will happy to help!)
