Five Subject Links – Performing Arts!

Do you study Performing Arts? Are you looking for interesting course-related websites for research or personal interest? Well guess what: The LRC can help! Hurray! Here are five of our Subject Linked Performing Arts Websites (in no particular order…) for your singing, dancing, and acting pleasure!

1: The History of Dance
If you want to brush up on the basics of Dance History, this website is for you! From Breakdancing to Waltzing, this collection from Central Home is an invaluable resource for all aspiring dancers who want to delve a little deeper into the origins of their chosen artistic medium.

2: The Complete Works of William Shakespeare Online
This website pretty much explains itself! Access all of the The Bard’s works from the comfort of your desktop (or laptop, or tablet, or smart phone… Ah, the age of technology).

3: V&A Musical Theatre
This website is really awesome – it just has so much information about Musical Theatre! From articles on the history of musicals in Britain, to the orchestral score for Jesus Christ Superstar, interviews with the cast of Wicked,  to profiles on key figures in musical theatre, V&A Musical Theatre really is an invaluable source for anyone with any interest in musicals!

4: Arts Council England
The Arts Council England is responsible for funding and supporting the arts across the country. Their website not only allows you to get up to speed on their current projects and initiatives, but also offers advice and guidance to those working, or aspiring to work in, the arts in England!

5: Equity – The British Actors Union
The official website of Equity, the UK Trade Union for Professional Performers and Creative Practitioners. The site provides industry news and latest events, career advice and information about the Union, its general work, and current campaigns.
