International Women’s Day 2022

March 8, 2022 by Erin Peacock Leave a Comment

Make a commitment to #BreakTheBias as we gear up to celebrate this year’s International Women’s Day! The 2022 is about smashing through bias barriers: whether deliberate or unconscious, bias makes it difficult, sometimes impossible, for women to move ahead. In a world that has rightly shifted from intention to impact, simply acknowledging that bias exists isn’t enough. Action is needed to level the playing field! And this is where you come in.

IWD is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of awesome women. IWD: it celebrates all achievements made. Big, small, it doesn’t matter. Together, we celebrate all female-identifying people. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender equality. Worldwide, make sure to follow all kinds of inclusive groups coming together to celebrate women and rally for women’s parity.

International Women’s Day is not country, group, nor organization specific. No one government, NGO, charity, corporation, academic institution, women’s network, or media hub is solely responsible for IWD. The day belongs to all groups collectively everywhere. It’s important to keep in mind this quote from Gloria Steinem, world-renowned feminist, journalist and activist: “The story of women’s struggle for equality belongs to no single feminist, nor to any one organization, but to the collective efforts of all who care about human rights.” So, utilise IWD to uplift women around you, collaborate on equality efforts and considers what you can do to #BreakTheBias and make a positive difference for women.

This is urgent work and we all need to work together and play our part!
