Last day working at the LRC!

May 25, 2016 by LRC Leave a Comment

Today is my last day at the LRC library, I have learnt many exciting and skillful things in this short period of time. I have met many objectives I have set myself before I started and learnt how to handle with customers.

I learnt how to manage the data and upload the data so everyone can see and edit. Ryan has taught me how to set up my own website using WordPress, and how to blog to a professional standard. Mel has also helped me improve my typing speed using a website on the web. I am now much faster and more accurate whilst I’m typing. During my time, many new journals came through eh post and I had the responsibility to update the new journals on SharePoint. I then had to go to the magazine shelf take the old one off and replace it with the new one. Whilst sitting at the desk I experienced great customer service from my colleagues and I picked up from it and now became an expert.

I have solved many different problems whilst working here for staff and students but the main ones where printing, and booking a computer. These task where very easy to do but it really helped them. The main skills I learnt where how to be patient with customers, have great Enthusiasm no matter what situation you’re in, understand their problems and always try to be helpful. The key skills I needed where communication, using my initiative, planning and organisations, team working, problem solving, customer handling, always having a can do attitude, taking responsibility, and IT English and maths skills. I have achieved many of these skills by multitasking, planning and organisation which book to shelf first, asking my colleagues for help, I also dealt with more than one customer at a time, and was always happy to help anyone no matter what they were asking.

After this incredible few weeks I have learnt all of these amazing skills and would like to say thank you to all of the LRC staff for helping me achieve all of my objectives, and skills I will need for any work placement.
