My Experience working in the LRC

February 6, 2018 by LRC Leave a Comment

Hi my name is Shaniah I’ve been doing work experience in the LRC Monday to Tuesday and this is my experience.

Tasks I’ve been given -In the LRC I’ve been challenged to learn how to reset a students passcode on the PC when they’ve forgotten their log in password, I’ve also been taught how to use library software such as heritage and PC booking software such as ‘My PC’.

Experience’s I’ve learned – before this experience I didn’t know how to scan book bar codes on returning books to their designated homes or allowing students to borrow books, being able to leave the library with a book without the metal alarm detector going off and disturbing the peace. I have also learned how to update the SGS LRC website.

Responsibility acquired – Doing my work experience in the LRC I have been given a huge amount of trust such as money handling also knowing where the keys to the expensive equipment is being kept.

What I have found the most challenging – Figuring out which books go where and in which order.

Overall I’ve found the last two days to go a little slow at times only because without students in the library there aren’t any books to scan nor books to return or PCs to book out.

id like to thank the team Rich Alys and Ryan for giving me the opportunity to work in library.
