September is upon us already, can you believe it? And with the New Academic Year, there’s a New Us!
Well, not a new us — all of your beloved old LRC Staff are still kicking happily around, waiting to help you with your learning-resource-based needs. But! due to the pandemic we do have some new opening hours, a new way of borrowing and returning books, and some new information regarding fines.
Just call us Gabriel Garcia Marquez, because you’re about to read about Love LRCs In The Time of Cholera Corona-virus! (…Oh, come on, it’s a good book pun, don’t be so critical!)
New Opening Times
From now until further notice SGS LRCs have new opening times:
Filton LRC: 09:30am – 3pm every day except Tuesdays, which will be 10am – 3pm
Queen’s Road LRC: 10am – 3pm
Stroud LRC: 9am – 3pm
WISE LRC: 10am – 3pm
Listen to the wisdom of Gandalf, and never be late, nor early. Arrive precisely when, er, the LRC is open.
Borrowing Books
In order to keep us all as safe and healthy as possible, we are advising that no one browses the bookshelves at the moment.
You can still borrow books, though! There are a few different ways you can do this:
1: Browse our collection via our online catalogue at http://heri.sgscol.ac.uk/ and reserve books ready for collection at your preferred site.
2: Call, email, or visit the LRC Helpdesk and ask us to fetch books for you. You can ask for specific books, or just give us a general idea of the sort of thing you want, and we will use our Incredible Librarian Super-Powers to figure out what you need!
Returning Books
All books which are returned to us will be placed in a 72-hour quarantine in line with the New England Medical Journal’s research into how long the virus survives on hard surfaces.
In order to keep contact down to a minimum, drop boxes have been placed near the front of all our LRCs. Instead of handing your returned books to the staff, please place them into these boxes!
Fines Accrued During Lockdown
You will be glad to hear that all fines accrued since March 23rd have been waived, and for the time being, no further fines will be accrued for late book.
So, if you have been putting off bringing back a book for fear of fines — fear no more! You must be like Batman. Why? Because Batman Returns!… his books to the library.
As always, if you have any questions or comments, feel free to contact us by phone, email, or in person at the helpdesk.
