Work Experience at LRC

May 11, 2016 by LRC Leave a Comment

Hi my name is Ajay Singh, and I study Level 2 IT. I also work as a customer service assistant at Tesco’s and have some customer service experience. The library at college is a fun and relaxing place, everybody in there are kind, helpful and friendly and would love to learn these experiences. I will be blogging each day, and tell you what I have been up to and what a great place the library is.

The first day I started on Tuesday 3rd May 2016, I was very nervous and not looking forward to come. I had these feeling for many reasons one was because I thought I won’t do the job properly, or I’ll be too nervous to talk to customers who will need help at the desk. Even though I was having all these weird emotions I still managed to come in. The minute I walked into the library two librarians Beth Hammond and Melody Dix smiled at me and made me feel welcomed and less stressed and nervous about my first day. Beth Hammond was helping me though that day and she was a very nice person as she told me the basic jobs we had to fulfil and what we had to do. I learnt many new exciting things such as shelving the books, renewing items, returning items, and also how to reset a password. When I was dealing with a customer by myself I was struggling a lot, and as Beth was observing me she came over and helped me. That made me more comfortable about helping others as I can ask for help

Tuesday 10th May 2016, is the second day back and I am looking forward for it. The librarians had many new and wondrous things for me to do when was to issue all the new journals onto the database. This is done so if anyone wants to take them out that will allow them to. I also learnt how to refill paper in the printer, and how to move locations for DVD’s to the Wise campus. I also helped putting laptops back to their specific location.

So far I am loving my experience and can wait for the upcoming days.
